I knew going into this wedding that it was going to be fun to photograph, but I could never have planned the epic photograph that was to come. This fun, exuberant photograph was a result of timing and an adventurous bride.

As a photographer it is vital for me to know as much as I can about the bride and groom.  Wedding photographs are more than just capturing a beautiful artistic image; it’s about capturing the essence of who the couples are.  The bride in this photograph I learned, during our time working together, has an outgoing personality and is a Navy Doctor. While we were out taking photographs prior to the wedding I happened to notice an ambulance. I thought it would be a great shot to use the ambulance as a backdrop, but she went the extra mile and suggested we use the stretcher and medical supplies. She even asked the paramedics to be in photograph. They declined adamantly so we used the bridesmaids. The result was a fantastic and unforgettable photograph.  Had it not been for the bride’s adventurous spirit this picture would never have been so unique.

I took this photograph in October of 2010 and to this day I still find people searching for the “ambulance bride” photograph. I myself am fond of this picture and use it on my website.  It was an exciting moment to capture and I always look forward to creating more unforgettable wedding photographs.
